Silver Ring
Thing coming to Grove City, PA!!
With exciting NEW skits,
videos, comedy, and testimonies, the Silver Ring Thing is coming
to Grove City and challenging teens to a life of abstinence
until marriage. The Silver Ring Thing Live Event is a 2.5 hour
dynamic stage performance that incorporates high energy music,
special effects, fast-paced video, personal testimonies, and
comedy all in a concert-style approach so teens can relate.
All youth groups, youth
leaders, teens and parents should not miss this event! All
churches welcome!
In a world with so many
messages about sex and stories of people making unhealthy and
devastating choices, The Silver Ring Thing offers parents and
teens a chance to hear about a different way. It’s a high-energy

questions.

Used Cell Phones
Still Needed
The Mary
Circle wants to remind everyone that they are still willing to
collect used cell phones and battery chargers. They are given to
the Women’s Shelter and programmed to only dial 911. Place
donations in the baskets in the Circle Drive and the Office
Entrance. Thank you.
Operations Christmas Child
“Operation
Christmas Child” boxes are ready and on display in the Narthex
and the Assembly Room. Just take a box, sign your name, make
sure directions are inside, and have fun shopping for a child
“in Timbuktu and beyond!” Follow the directions for “How to Pack
a Shoe Box” and complete the donation envelope if you are able
to contribute $7.00 toward shipping. Some members of the
congregation may be unable to pack a box but would like to
contribute toward shipping expenses. Make your check payable to
Samaritan’s Purse and note on the memo line “Operation Christmas
Child”. Drop it in the offering plate. Many thanks for your
enthusiasm and generosity.
P.S. If we
run out of boxes, you can pack one of your own and the Mary
Circle will be glad to wrap it for you.

Congregation
takes action on two proposals
At the
specially called Congregational Meeting on Sunday, September 30,
following worship, members unanimously agreed with two proposals
from Session. First, the congregation adopted a motion to reduce
the size of Session over a three year period beginning this
fall, making the size of Session eighteen members by 2010.
Secondly, the membership agreed to schedule an Annual Fall
Meeting of the Congregation on the third Sunday of October every
year after morning worship. The purpose of this fall meeting is
to hear the report of the Nominating Committee and elect Elders,
Deacons, an Auditor and four members from the congregation at
large for the following year’s Nominating Committee. Normally,
there will be no other business conducted at the fall meeting.
The Annual Meeting will, of course, remain on the last Sunday of
January.
New
elders and deacons will be trained in November and December each
year and be ordained and/or installed the second Sunday of
January each new year.
The Congregational
Meeting on October 21st heard the report of the
Church Nominating Committee and elected the following persons to

Thanks You's
To all the Deacons:
You
are really “caring” and I appreciate you remembering me with the
beautiful mum. You have brightened my fall season.

Dear Clen-Moore Family & Friends:
Thank you for the beautiful
Rieger Begonia. It was a wonderful surprise and I appreciate it
very much.
God bless you all, Kathryn
Myler
Dear
Mary Circle:
We so appreciate the Mary
Circle sewing items for us and of course, dear Julia Snyder’s
wonderful quilted lap robes. Just recently, Carol Oliver
“dropped off” neck pillows, shirt protectors, catheter bag
covers and lap robes. We see what a labor of love this is. You
are dear thoughtful women and may God continue to bless your
faithfulness.
Sincerely, Sharyn
McCaskey, Activities Director at Shenango Presby SeniorCare
Dear
Church Family:
I’m so glad I’m a part of
the family of God, that is, Clen-Moore Church. Even though I’m
just a few miles away and don’t get back too often, my heart and
prayers are with you. Thank you for your visits, prayers, and
most recently, the lovely chrysanthemum plant. It’s so nice to
know that the seed planted in a 10 year old’s heart so many
years ago is thriving.
In Christian love, Doris Candioto
To
Clen-Moore Church:
Thank you for the chalk
boards that you donated to the Academy. We have several boards
that were very old and almost unusable, so these are most
welcome and will be well-used. As always, we thank God for your
continued support in so many areas.
In Him, Marcia Votaw, New Castle Christian Academy
Dear
Church Friends:
Thank
you so much for all the “goodies” and the beautiful plant you
sent me. I really enjoyed them and appreciate them more than I
can say.
God bless, Ruth Cartwright
To my
Friends at Clen-Moore Church:
I want to let you know that
I am doing well and recovering after having broken my hip Aug.
30th of this year. I had a partial hip replacement,
spent one week at St. Clair Hospital and then spent the rest of
September at Covenant South Hills getting my strength back and
rehabbing. I want to extend a big thanks to those of you who
sent me cards and kept me in prayer during this time. For
someone of 90 years, I count each day a blessing.
God bless you all, Bill Brandon
Dear
Clen-Moore Family:
Thanks so much for your
continuous prayers and outpouring of cards. They mean so much.
You’ve gotten me this far and I still have a long way to go so
don’t forget about me in your prayers. Thanks again.
Sincerely, Mary Ann McConnell

Thank Offering Sunday
November 18
Each year the women of the church lead us in a Thank Offering Service designed to
highlight our mission work and to receive a special offering for
the mission work of Presbyterian Women around the world.
Our speaker this year
will be Dr. Mark Meyer, M.D., Presbyterian Elder, and President
of the local UPMC chapter of Shoulder to Shoulder, a national
organization that fosters medical team outreach to medically
underserved areas in the world. He has just returned from a two
week medical mission project which occurs three to four times a
year in a mountain village in Honduras.
Dr. Meyer is a graduate of Williams College, South Dakota University School of
Medicine and a residency program in Family Practice at the
Medical Center of Beaver. After his residency, he has served in
two specifically Christian wholistic medical practices --- the
North Side Christian Health Center on East Ohio Street on
Pittsburgh’s north side where he was the Medical Director for
several years and now is a staff physician with the East Liberty
Family Health Care Center in East Liberty and Lincoln-Lexington.
He teaches in the Family Practice Residency Program at West Penn
Hospital in the family medicine track of Obstetrics and
Gynecology.
Inspired by the
witness of his great grandfather on his mother’s side of the
family, he has committed his career to distinctively Christian
family practice medicine. His great grandfather, Dr. Charles
Lewis, was a pioneer missionary surgeon of the Presbyterian
Church to China. He has volunteered hours and days of his time
to Pittsburgh’s homeless population also through Operation
Safety Net, a medical advocate for the homeless in the city.
Come join us in giving God thanks for our many blessings and learn more of how
we can support medical mission to the least, the last, and the
lost. |

PRIME TIMERS CORNER |
|
Greetings!
Summer
finally gave up and the cool weather arrived as scheduled. The fall
season is such a beautiful time in our area with the colorful
trees---we don’t have to travel to the mountains to see the foliage.
Before we left Pearson Park to come back to the church, Prime Timers
enjoyed a catered picnic lunch served in the Hutchinson Center. Over
60 were in attendance. Bill Gray, our pianist for several years has
decided to retire due to physical problems. Thank you Bill for your
many years of service. We are happy to welcome Lillian Kennedy as
our new pianist. Come and join us at 9:30 on Tuesday mornings for
coffee and fellowship. Our main attraction is still the wonderful
uplifting biblical messages shared with us by Steve Plyler. They are
well worth your time to hear them.
See you Tuesday,
Bob McConnell

with its look, style and attitude of post-war optimism.
NEW 2008 CAROUSEL SHOWS
It’s time to sign up for next
year at the Carousel.

and a storybook romance. The wonderful score features music you know
and love including “Whistle a Happy Tune”, “Getting to Know You”,
“Hello Young Lovers” and “Shall We Dance”.
May 14:
“Damn Yankees”. Joe Boyd is addicted to baseball and particularly
the Cleveland Indians. He is willing to sell his soul to bring the
Indians to victory over the team we all love to hate – those Damn
Yankees.
July 16:
“Viaggio” is brought to life by the “el Circo” troupe. Watch the
dazzling performances including
beautiful gravity- defying
acts, aerial tricks, and ethereal acrobatics all set to evocative
music.

Now is the perfect time to revisit Oz to see what happens to the
three witches of Oz.

2007-2008 BROADWAY SHOWS
Time for the new season of
Pittsburgh Broadway Shows!
October 27: “Twelve Angry Men”.
Twelve walks of life and only two ways to rule; guilty or not
guilty. What seems like an open-and-shut murder case becomes a
twisted puzzle of prejudice and intrigue.
November 24: “Avenue Q”. A
hilarious show full of heart and tunes to hum. Avenue Q is about
trying to make it in New York City with big dreams and a tiny bank
account.
January 19: “The Lion King”.
See it again to pick up all the things you missed the first time,
like the unforgettable visual images and musical score.
February 2: “Sweeny Todd”. The
legendary demon barber, hell-bent on revenge, takes up with his
enterprising neighbor to slice their way through London’s upper
crust.
March 1: “The Drowsy
Chaperone”. The new musical comedy that is swooping into town with
tons of laughs and the most Tony Awards of any musical on Broadway.
April 12: “The Wedding Singer”.
Robbie is the life of the party until his fiancée leaves him at the
altar. Robbie tries to spoil every wedding he is to sing at. This
show takes us back to a time when hair was big, greed was good,
collars were up and the wedding singer was Robbie.
Sounds like a great new series.
These are all Saturday matinees. |

A
Little Humor from other Church Web Sites |
A little girl was talking
to her teacher about whales.
The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale
to swallow a human
because even though it was a very large mammal, its throat was
very small. The
little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale.
Irritated, the teacher
reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was
physically impossible.
The little girl said, "When
I get to heaven I will ask Jonah".
The teacher asked, "What if Jonah went to hell?"
The little girl replied, "Then you ask him."
A Kindergarten teacher
was observing her classroom of children while they were drawing.
She would occasionally walk around to see each child's work. As
she got to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked
what the drawing was. The girl replied, "I'm drawing God." The
teacher paused and said, "But no one knows what God looks like."
Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing, the girl
replied, "They will in a minute."
A Sunday school
teacher was discussing the Ten Commandments with her
five and six year olds. After explaining the commandment
to "honor" thy Father and thy Mother, she asked, "Is
there a commandment that teaches us how to treat our
brothers and sisters?" Without missing a beat one little
boy (the oldest of a family) answered, "Thou shalt not
kill."
The children
were lined up in the cafeteria of a Catholic elementary
school for lunch. At the head of the table was a
large pile of apples. The nun made a note, and posted it
on the apple tray: "Take only ONE. God is watching."
Moving further along the lunch line, at the other end of
the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies. A
child had written a note, "Take all you want. God is
watching the apples."
